We gather at kläckrännan located in the Black Valley, South Bohuslän. The time is 18:00, it is not getting dark yet but it will not take as many minutes before we have to turn on our headlamps.
It's a happy bunch who are really passionate about fish care. The level of knowledge is high among the guys. I am privileged. Getting the fish follow the care up close is a rare luxury.
I got the guys to pose when the work was finished. It simmered already coffee inside the cottage. Now it would be good with something in your stomach. Donald had been so go that he had brought coffee from yesterday's board meeting.
It must be cleared and cleaned ... .. This planned approach ... ..
Dom stainless tubs must be cleaned and then disinfected. Kläckrännan contains 4 large kläckkar and some 30 smaller fry boxes. Here, the ova hatch 10,000-20,000 annually. At best you get out 50% of the eggs / fry fish in the lakes and about 2-3% survive then ready for catching fish.
Out of 10,000 roe so it will hopefully be around 250 fish.
The boys scrub the walls clean and clear away leaves and twigs from the ground.
Krister controls the water temperature. It is located at 10 degrees this evening. Now we hope not too abnormal temperature conditions, good water and a good supply of oxygen in the water.
An interesting story about fish care can be found in Swedish Fishing No 4/2012.
This Saturday it had collected a good bunch when it leased the fishing ground. Today it was not fishing on schedule without fish conservation!
As I am completely new to fish care, I saw really looking forward to this Saturday. Yes, but I knew it would be really rough job. Hauling gravel lot to the trout spawning.
It kånkades heavy bags to the boats. Some of the guys had electric motors while others stronger guys rowed boats
Once at the small stream that would get a makeover, everyone started to carry the bags of stone. It is the work performed by members of the club.
The work is a must when you do not get put out farmed fish in the lake because of Gyro infection. But in this way it has been such a close wild fish you can get.
It is important to clear away leaves, branches and other Bröte from the stream bottom for a good foundation to build on. There is extensive knowledge regarding fisheries management of the club. The noticeable during the discussions that occur regarding how the playgrounds should be designed and built.
Breeding Fishing has been at the club for nearly 30 years!
So what is the Gyro! It is a freshwater parasite that primarily attacks the larvae. Adult fish are not as susceptible to this parasite as fry and smolts (kids) are.
By not putting in fish from other areas so prevent in gyros spreads to "clean" lakes or systems.
When the rivers are clean of leaves, branches etc so added it out gravel to create playgrounds for trout. The gravel must be placed in a thick layer of it will be whisked away large amounts of gravel all the water that passes.
It's about creating an oxygen-rich water that allows the fertilized the eggs / fry will best position to cope.
Meanwhile, work continues in the creek, we spotted a small smolt whiz past. It's probably happy that there is a fish conservation work
After a few hours of work approaching the lunch. We take boats across the lake to the shelter. A really nice place with overnight accommodation.
Today's weather was very diverse. Sometimes the rain was pouring down and the next moment was blown away, and then instead offer flat calm water.
It did not take long to start up the charcoal and then passed it on, one after the other hamburger on the grill.
It tasted really good with the burger ...... Big Thanks to barbecue champion and Eve who purchased all the good
Two happy workers who gladly posed for the camera
A very well-used coffee cauldron .......
We returned to the stream to put the final hand over our work .......
Now the trout very nice playgrounds. This will lead to a natural trout production to its unique lake trout strain ...... ..
This vegetation provides fry and smolts safe hiding places for predators.
Now we just hope that it will walk many happy trout saving up this creek, where their little ones will get a good start in life
